I imagine - I hope - I'm reaching a lot of people on this page who are in the same place in life as me. I have two great kids. Protecting their wellbeing and providing opportunities for whatever future they wish to create for themselves is my most important role in life. My wife and I have three parents between us, facing common health and functional challenges that come with aging. Knock on wood, young and old are faring well, and we all even really like each other!
We have so much to be thankful for and each day together is a blessing. We, like many of you, are now at the point of addressing some difficult questions and the need to help plan for what comes next for our parents.
One lesson I've learned again and again is that the best outcomes are arrived at through a team effort. Consider your parent as the hub of a wheel. The spokes stretch out to what forms the turning wheel: family members and other informal caregivers; primary care provider; health professionals; perhaps formal caregivers such as a home health aide; environmental supports and barriers. Integrative Aging In Place serves two roles for you. The first is to be on your team, helping maximize your parent's(s') independence and safety through therapy, equipment and home modification. The second is to reduce your care responsibilities and provide peace of mind. If Integrative Aging In Place collaboratively generates solutions to help mom and dad's life work at home, the time you spend can center on what matters most - walking this path of aging at your parents' side compassionately, nurturing relationships between grandparents and grandchildren, creating meaningful moments. We want this for you as we want it for ourselves.
As adult children to aging parents who understand where you are in life, we want you to be a part of the process and to feel comfortable with the services being paid for and provided. We welcome you to reach out with any questions.
