National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach

What is an NBC-HWC?

A National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach is a credentialed behavior change agent  who empowers, supports, and guides individuals looking to enhance their wellbeing. The profession is grounded in the body of evidence showing how those who take ownership over the behavior change process achieve superior and more durable outcomes.  


  The NBC-HWC designation is awarded to practitioners who have met the minimum following criteria: 

  • An associates degree or higher from an accredited college or university
  • Completion of a health & wellness coaching training program approved by the National Board of Health & Wellness Coaching
  • Minimum 50 hours of coaching in a real-world setting, after passing the skills assessment of the training program

Process

  1. Envision the life you want to live and the person you want to be
  2. Identify the gaps between that life and where you are now
  3. Determine the changes you need to make to close the gap
  4. Develop goals and strategies to make those changes
  5. Make changes, maintain them, manage setbacks, repeat
